Environmental Claims - How to Complete and Upload a Project

The carbon calculator uses a spreadsheet upload to gather information about your project. The excel sheet is available for download within the platform, but it can be saved on your system. This allows you to use an existing project as a template either for projects of a similar type, or for a subsequent phase of works.

The calculator relies upon the position of columns and cells within the spreadsheet, so moving cells or adding columns may cause the return of errors.

Each project can have mutiple carbon reports associated with it. In order to generate a new project a new "Project Number" should be included within the excel contracts sheet. If an existing number is used, the new report will be grouped with the existing project number.

When the contracts tab is completed, you can add the Activities associated with the project to the "Activities" Input sheet. This will capture things like mileage, deliveries, waste management, and fuel and energy that is used on site. Where two inputs are required, for example hours, and kW, two green boxes are provided and both should be filled in

The materials input sheet allows items used on the project to be added - simply add the number of items used.

There is the potential for some material types to provide custom dimensions, rather than choose from a prescribed list. In this case the dimensions of the item (in meters) can be added, as well as the numbers of that custom sized item that was used

Once both sheets are completed, you can drag and drop into the system. It will provide you with a chance to review your items or activities. If you are happy with them you can click "Publish" at which point the software will calculate a carbon footprint for the project, and provide you with a PDF report.

Other options are to click "upload" again if there are changes you need to make to the report, or "Back" to return to your complete projects dashboard. Your project as you just uploaded it will be contained within the dashboard, in a location based on the project number that you gave it. It will state that it is ready for publishing.
