General Property Claims - How to Complete and Upload a Project

The aim of the platform is to help you provide the carbon information that is increasingly being asked for by companies procuring construction and repair services.

To make this as easy as possible, it is based on the the project quoting sheet that is already in operation by Questgates to avoid data having to be entered in two places.

The excel sheet is available for download within the platform, but it can be saved on your system. This allows you to use an existing project as a template either for projects of a similar type, for a subsequent phase of works, or for changing a quote to a reconcilation. Macros for the excel sheet must be enabled

The calculator relies upon the position of columns and cells within the spreadsheet, so moving cells or adding columns may cause the return of errors, but you can add extra sheets if this is your normal way of adapting the Questgates sheets for your use.

It is important to know that if a blank line is entered in the materials sheets, or an unrecognised code is encountered, the platform will consider that to be the end of the uploaded information. This is to keep the upload time to a minimum. If items are not picked up by the platform, then the first step to solve the problem is to remove blank lines from the excel file.

Each project can have mutiple carbon reports associated with it. In order to generate a new project a new "Project Number" should be included within the excel contracts sheet. If an existing number is used, the new report will be grouped with the existing project number.

When the contracts tab is completed, you can add the Activities associated with the project to the "Activities" Input sheet. This will capture things like mileage, deliveries, waste management, and fuel and energy that is used on site. Where two inputs are required, for example hours, and kW, two green boxes are provided and both should be filled in.

The materials sheet only takes account of the materials, so for example, removal and replacement of a ceiling will take into account the new ceiling material, but not the waste collection, or worker transport.  Total waste collections for the whole project and workforce transport (not seperated by task) can be added into the activities sheet.

The materials input sheet allows items used on the project to be added - simply fill in the Questgates job sheet as you  normally would do when completeing a quote

Once both sheets are completed, you can drag and drop into the system. It will provide you with a chance to review your items or activities. If you are happy with them you can click "Publish" at which point the software will calculate a carbon footprint for the project, and provide you with a PDF report.

Other options are to click "upload" again if there are changes you need to make to the report, or "Back" to return to your complete projects dashboard. Your project as you just uploaded it will be contained within the dashboard, in a location based on the project number that you gave it. It will state that it is ready for publishing.
